John Clemmer

Born in rural Louisiana in 1921 and a resident of New Orleans since the age of seven, John Clemmer has had a long and accomplished career that has virtually paralleled the development of the city’s modern art scene. From his early association with the seminal Arts and Crafts Club of New Orleans and its affiliated Art School, through his years at Tulane University (where he taught in the School of Architecture and served as Chairman of Newcomb College), Clemmer has pursued a diverse and highly personal exploration of paintings, drawings and sculpture.
